The Fight for LICH

A CiC supporter recently brought to our attention a glaring omission in the Choices in Childbirth social media world, and we’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge that mistake.

Long Island College Hospital in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn is indeed one of the few hospitals that offered choices for women seeking low intervention births and great midwifery care. Let’s continue the fight to keep it open!

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

2) Call SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher at (518) 320-1355 and tell her “Stop putting Brooklyn patients at risk. Start accepting ambulances at LICH.”

3) Call or email Governor Andrew Cuomo (518) 474-8390,  email: Greg.Smiley@exec.ny.gov and tell him “I urge you to take charge and save LICH for the communities of western Brooklyn. Restore the resident physicians to LICH.”

4) Call or email Dr. Nirav Shah at the NYS Department of Health (518) 474-2011 and tell him how important LICH is to our community.  Emails to Dr. Shah should be sent to: DOHWEB@health.state.ny.us, Subj: Attn: Dr. Shah re LICH

5) Call: US Senator Charles Schumer: (212)486-4430 and US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand: 212- 688-6262. (Their only email contact is via their websites. )

Congresswoman Nydia Velasquez: (718) 222-5819, email: daniel.wiley@mail.house.gov

NYS Senator Daniel Squadron: (212) 298-5565,email: squadron@nysenate.gov

NYS Assemblymember Joan Millman: (718) 246-4889,email: millmaj@assembly.state.ny.us

City Councilman Steven Levin: (718) 875-5200,email: slevin@council.nyc.gov

It is over, LICH will be closed tight. Gov Cuomo ordered Downstate to shut it tight. The DOH is a friend of Cuomo and does and he tells them to do.
