NY Birth Community Update

Birth activists from around the state continue to build momentum for the passage of the Midwifery Modernization Act – a crucial piece of legislation that would protect the ability of midwives to practice and protect women’s access to midwifery care.

You can make a world of difference to women all across the state who want access to the quality care that a midwife provides. Here’s how: http://freeourmidwives.org/action-alert-the-final-push/

Our sister organizations and birth activists leading this legislative effort are asking all midwifery supporters to act now! Please see the message below:

THE BIG PUSH – passing the midwifery modernization act now!

You have made a huge difference and the momentum has continued to build. We are at a crucial moment, the legislative session will be ending shortly and we need this bill passed before it does. We know that we have been asking quite a bit lately and we are so appreciative for all the support you have already shown. But please do not stop now when we have come so far! Keep the momentum going and give just a quick call and /or email to tell your representative we need the MMA passed NOW.

All the information you need is in the link below:

I want to commend Elan for her beatifully supportive and balanced presentation on the Midwifery Modernization Act on the Brian Lehrer show on WNYC radio June 10.
Thank you so much–you really do understand how it is for midwives and consumers and you speak so openly and honestly without antagonizing anyone or making anyone the bad guy. You are a great ally to have.

    I just joined choicesinchildbirth.wordpress.com.
I’m hoping to take a look round a lttle bit and make contact with fascinating people and discover several points.

I’m hoping this post doesn’t end up in an inappropriate place. I pray you’ll forgive me if it does.
